"What are those puffy clouds?" you ask. Well, the researchers at our AirHead laboratory have developed estimates of the amount of air pollution that would result from using each of these products for a year. Those estimates are available here in a five cloud ranking system.

Lots of grey clouds mean that a product produces a lot of air pollution compared to others in its family (for example, each dishwasher is compared to all other dishwashers in our database to see if it pollutes more or less). Lots of white clouds mean that a product has relatively low emissions associated with it.

Each of these emissions estimates are based on the energy use of the product; these are not efficiency rankings. For more information about the difference between efficiency and energy use and to find out how we calculated this stuff please visit the Eco Geeks section.

To compare and contrast the products you searched for just click on the up or down arrow above a column to sort the products in ascending or descending order by that field. For example, if you want to see the least polluting products first, just click on the up arrow above the fluffy cloud column.
